Book Review: Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma

Hi there!

Synopsis:

We follow the Whitely family and their struggles. Young Lochan has to call the shots because his mother is negligent. Alongside with his sister Maya will learn what love is. I can say anything else because they're spoliers. I know that it's a story full of controversy, but I can but help that people- almost never - talk about it. I don't know if it's for shame or something else, but believe, you will never see the world the same once you've read it. Tabitha's writing it's real and honest and I always appreciate a little of that in a book.
Nevertheless, let's move to the spoilers, because it's killing me not to discussed this with the world.

Spoiler Section:

The story begins with Lochan and his anxiety problems. This make my heart explode, because well, school it's always a little overwhelming, the kids are extremely cruel  and that's realism it's something that  every reader appreciates. After school, Lochan has more deep troubles. His mother is alcoholic, his father went and re-married and stopped looking for him and his other four brothers and sisters.  Then Maya, his sister it's introduced and it melt my frozen heart the relationship between her and the youngest of the siblings, Willa.

We get to see the daily lives of these family, the worries for pay the bills, the worries to look out for every brother & sister. And it makes me sad, because it's not a situation that we only see in books or t.v. shows, that's a real, disgusting reality and I'm so glad that there are books that stands out for those who doesn't have a voice.

I''m gonna be honest, when I get to the part where Maya and Lochan starts their relationship I was confused and a little off balance. Because "that's not supposed to happened" but, is it? I mean who are we to judge love? It just happens. Why? Well, I don't know. Even though it would never be my case, doesn't mean that I get to judge.

This book, for me, was a wakeup call. To not judge what I don't know, to see the horrors this world holds, but also, I get to see what love could do to a family, even though it's not standard, it's pure and they give up so much for their brothers.

I'm glad I saw this book, because it made me curious, and when I ended, well yeah, I was in tears. I didn't want Lochan to die and Maya made me anxious and so sad because she was so determined to end everything, to be free and young (as every girl in her age should be),  and well to be able to mourn the dead of Loch, but I knew that she would have the support of her family. That she wasn't entirely alone.

I'm glad this book exist. It's beautiful and powerful and it would stay with me the rest of my days.
