Book Review: Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor

So, finally I have the second book...

Synopsis:
We follow Akiva and his brother & sister in this crusade against their father and their uncle. Karou finally with Zuzana and Mik by her side while she faces the grudge that the White Wolf has put in every Chimaera of Eretz just because she fall in love with an angel (do I smell jealousy?) and unfortunately. that's all I have to say without spoilers. Go & read it if you want to know more, or (if you like it) just scroll down to the spoiler section

Spoiler Section:

Oh my God, I suffer with this book. First we follow Akiva and he finds out that Karou is dead, and that she couldn't be back because Brimstone is also dead. What the #$&!

And then she finally appears (obviously she's the main character, she can't be killed) but... again she's ashamed because she was in love with an angel and she is/was/is a chimaera and I was about to mentally slapped her but Hallelujah! she re-discovers her badassery and she's so empowerful with her ideals of change and my faith in her character revived.

Taylor's writing never ceased to amaze me. She puts more fun and tender in all those PoV. We get to see more of the daily lives of our main characters: Akiva and Karou. We get to know beautiful Hazael and badass Liraz (more of them in a sec).
Also I adore Zuze. She's such a great friend. I mean going from Prague to the desert? The feels

But of course nothing could be cake and puppets (see what I did), and the complications are over the top. It almost killed me all those meetings with Karou and Akiva. The first meeting, when he brings Karou the soul of Issa. My God, I almost didn't make it. It was so bittersweet.

Although, I never trust Thiago. I was suspecting the whole book until his true intentions were discovered. What was he thinking? He's such an ugly character. Killing the angels in cold blood and trying to rape Karou?

But Karou's badassery is, once more, proved  and she kills him. Her struggle to fixing things, because of course the chimaeras will distrust her for killing their leader and it would be it, everything for what they were fighting for, would be shatter. But Ziri offers himself to take the place of Thiago and it was so sweet.

And back to Akiva, while Karou was struggling with Thiago, he was on the mission to kill the Joram, his father and ruler of Eretz. So much dead. And that was the point: show the awful side of war, the trauma, the desolation and depression behind it. The images that Laini creates are just mind blowing. When Akiva succeeded I was like: Yay! Finally, but... Jael (their uncle) takes the victory and twisted into his own terrible plan: become the ruler (and he kills his nephew Hazael)

Of course, Akiva and his sister Liraz fly to Karou so she can bring him back from the dead, but unfortunately they didn't collect his soul so... yep. He just died.

And with the last pages of the book, we learn that the world's-worst-uncle wants the weapons of the humans to murder the Stelians, relatives of the mother of Akiva. So Akiva along with Karou, the chimaeras a couple of humans (Zuze and Mik) and of course, Liraz, fly to Eretz to make a plan to bring down Jael.

And that's it guys. Wow, that was a long one. Remember, to see the next review, just scroll. I will see you soon.
