Book Review: Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

So, this is the first book in the trilogy also called Daughter of Smoke and Bone

Synopsis:

We follow Karou in her apparently normal life, and of course it's just a facade because her life it's full of fantasy and mystery; angels and chimaeras; good and bad, just trust me, you need to read it. These books are tricky, though, I have to admit it, because they're filled with new fantastic words and you have to be fully committed with the books and story, but once you're with the head in the game, these books will stay with you.

Spoiler Section:

Once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down. I just needed (desperately) to know what the heck was going on: what's the deal with the teeths? Why the angels are leaving burning imprints of their hands? Who are said angels? What is the big secret that sorrounds Karou? Believe me, all these things were driving me crazy.

In confession, I have mix feelings with Karou because she is such a crybaby. And yes, her life wasn't easy, but for Jesus Christ!

And then everything changes, she starts to see that there's a bigger picture and she's so badass. I mean sneaking through the forbidden door, then hunting down the humans that have business in the past with Brimstone to get those wishes. It just melt my frozen heart, because all that effort to go back with her family it was just...

And then in that marvelous desert, when you thought that everything is going to be okay, that they will fly to the portal and that they will fight together for Eretz, Akiva it's just: "Hum, I'm sorry, love of my life, but I killed them ALL"

The cliffhanger that Laini created was killing me. I had to know what happened after she flies with Razgut. Maybe that's why I ended very fast the trilogy.

So that's what I think of the first book, the opinion for the next two, will come shortly.
